Sorry... The magic word.
Supposed to erase all the hurt.
To make things right again.
Magically fix all that's wrong.
Can anything be more false?
We teach our children how to be sorry.
Yet the damage is already done.
Can't we teach them something better?
How about teaching them how not to hurt?
So that sorry is a word heard less.
To ease the pain by not causing it.
Instead of relying on an empty word?
Sorry is a word I've heard too often.
It means very little to me.
I hear it from my daughter's mouth.
Yet, how can she know what its supposed to mean?
Are we born knowing what sorry is?
Why do we ever need to learn?
I'm tired of the hurt that's taught us to be sorry.
Sorry, the magical healing word, or is it hiding?
Make the hurt disappear instead of face it.
Attempt to make it vanish without a trace.
How can one simple word do such things?
Sorry is an illusion in the greatest sense.
